Dead Space: Aftermath (Movie)
The movie starts off with a small military ship docking with the much larger USG O’Bannon, in the middle of the field of debris created by the destruction of Aegis VII. You first see 5 soldiers bored the ship, and the they see dead bodies and blood everywhere. After extracting the 4 survivors of whatever happened on the ship, they are individually interrogated, and each tells their story. The O’Bannon is sent in officially to stabilize whats left of the planet, but really is sent looking for fragments of the Red Marker. After finding a shard, one of the group goes crazy, killing a technician, and breaking one of the gravity stabilizers, forcing them to leave, however out of 8 shuttle teams, only 1 returns, with only 4 survivors, from there, Nolan Stross studies the shard, and accidentally creates a necromorph, and releases it onto the ship. Soon, the entire damn ship is necromorphs, big surprise there. The event ends with the 4 survivors throwing the shard into the ships main reactor core, magically killing all of the necromorphs on board, and them being taken prisoner on bored the military ship. Out of the 4, one commits suicide, killing 6-7 soldiers with him, one is killed by the military, Stross is taken prisoner for medical tests, and the last survivor is used as the scapegoat for the entire event. The movie ends with Stross in a Stasis pod being put into a wall of other stasis pods, after his name appears on the holo-screen, the camera pans over to show another pod, marker ‘Clarke, Isaac’. Then the screen fades to black as a little girl sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Story: 7/10 - Many inconsistencies with Dead Space, but not enough to make it a bad movie.
Characters: 7/10 - A few main characters, most people are just faceless soldiers and crewmen.
Visuals: 8/10 - Uses many different art styles, one for each characters perspective.
Audio: 7/10 - Nice audio, and an alright soundtrack.
Entertainment: 7/20 - A nice bridge between the two Dead Space games, might not make any sense unless you played the first one.
FINAL SCORE: 72/100 - Strongly recommended for fans of the games, does a great job showing what happened between the two.
